Hospital Chain HCA added to S&P 500

HCA, the biggest hospital chain by revenue, has seen stronger than expected earnings in 2014. In fact, investor-owned hospital chains are benefitting from increased volume and a better mix of payers courtesy of the Affordable Care Act.

A strong 2014 helped HCA raise its share price more than 50%. HCA’s growth was impressive enough to earn a prime spot on Standard & Poor’s 500.
